This is the introductory element to the NGC1, it covers a wide range of issues including the scope of occupational health and safety, with moral and financial reasons for promoting good standards of H&S. This element also covers the legal framework for health and safety including common law duties of care along with statute law structure including the main duties of employers and employees within the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. This element also deals with the management of contractors as a majority of employers will interact with contractors of one type or other.
